Alice
Today I worked on pigs. Here is Alice when she found out that the baby she took had turned into a pig.

Malt O Meal
Glitter is a bitch. It goes everywhere, but you can't do Michael Jackson without sparkly stuff or buckles. He was amazing in the eighties, but then he just fell apart, piece by piece.
We went to Northfield MN today so Jim could play at the June bug Festival. Malt O Meal is made there and the town smelled wonderful. Sorta vanilley and malty. Yummy!

June 25
I'm working on a Dita Von Teese-type piece. I figure it's got a 50/50 chance of coming out OK. Goodwill is a great place to find stemmed glasses. I couldn't find what I wanted in regular stores.
Two of my pieces will fly to Nuremberg today. Makes me happy.
Hope you have a lovely birthday today, Jamie.

Harry Potter
Here is a mostly finished Hufflepuff cup, which is a horicrux from Harry Potter.I remember when the last book came out a couple of years ago. Molly works at Barnes and Noble so she dressed up as Moaning Myrtle for the Potter party they threw.
Cute!
We would pass the book back and forth. Molly finished it first and wanted me to hurry up so we could discuss it. I read an article at the time saying that this was going on all over. Millions of families reading Harry Potter together. I normally don't read children's books but Potter was the exception. I'm looking forward to the movie in July.

Wonderland
Disney and Tim Burton are doing a 3d version of "Alice in Wonderland". This picture looks very promising. There's never been a good film of it. The creepy surreal aspects of the book have always been played down. I just hope Burton keeps the palette as colorful as this. He uses too much gray for my taste. But that's just me.
Today I need to remake a couple of pieces and take Swine Flew to the post office.
So I will.

Three Wolf Moon
I've started to make a piece about "Three Wolf Moon",a viral internet curiosity. It started with a snarky, jokey review of a t shirt with wolves on it. Lots of people added to the reviews, pretty funny stuff. Someone made this video which is a hoot.
After that I'll remake BunnyMan because after it sold someone else wanted it.
I've actually given away a couple of pieces that are still online. I have to remake those or take them off. Since each piece is made from scratch, it would be misleading if I sold what they see on the picture. Don't want to do that.

Here and Now
Well, Kathy is selling at a show in Kentucky and Nora is at a show in Missouri. My family is after me to enter something. I know I should. I haven't entered in years; not since Florida. I know my stuff is in a limbo of not quite gift shop, not quite gallery. Oh, well
Here is a recipe for a Greek coffee frappe:
Hand held aerator
Nescafe instant coffee(Folgers doesn't work)
Cold water
Add spoonful of coffee powder to about 3" cold water in glass
Use aerator for about 30 seconds to make lots of froth
Add more water and mix a little bit more
Add ice, if desired
Must drink with straw
(I add a little milk and sugar free vanilla syrup)
Ilias taught me this in Thessaloniki, which, when I looked it up, is where it was originally created in 1957. Good stuff.

Mike and the Manatees
I thought about making a statue of Mike, the headless chicken, who lived from 1945 until 1947 without a head. Then I thought, "Nah, that one would be guaranteed not to sell." Sometimes I actually do think about the salability of my pieces.
Not often, just sometimes.
I'm working on a manatee piece because I really like them. A few years ago I was sitting on a dock on the Indian river and some manatees saw me and worked their way over to me. It was a magical moment.

Bacon & BunnyMan
There is an urban legend in Virginia about a killer called the Bunny Man. I couldn't resist. There's a long list on the net of local monsters all over the world. Oooh! New monsters.
I bought chocolate covered bacon the other day. I don't know how it tastes because I sent it home with Dana for Nancy. Hope she likes it.
We still don't have a second senator.

First Dance
We had a week of absolutely perfect weather last week. Now it's gray and I have the heat on.At least it's not snowing like it did out west. Good weather for getting back to work.
I'm making a calavera bride and groom dancing right now. Next to it is a handbook. I haven't decided about that or facebook yet. Way too many rejects.

Dia de la Dana
I haven't done much sculpting this week. Dana, my niece, is visiting from LA. Here is a picture of her. We saw "Drag Me to Hell" last night. It was pretty good in that shocking, can't look, gross-out sort of way.
One of the scenes was of a grave, coffin, body and rain-disturbing. It was interesting because Dana's dad, Craig Reardon, had created the grave, coffins, bodies and rain scene from "Poltergeist".He specialized in monsters and makeup at that time. Still can give me nightmares.
