Fiji Mermaid

I need to make more skeletons. I've been invited to join a dia de los muertos group on 1000Markets and I want new ones.
Everything is so hard lately. Things break or look bad. I'm blaming it on my cold and the weather. Better than blaming myself.
Here is an ok go video about blame. I saw them at First Ave. a couple of years ago. They were swell.
Back to work.

Rain & Snow

One of these will go on Etsy and the other on 1000 Markets. I had Alex fix the link to 1000 Markets on here .It should go right there. Soon I'll try it myself.
The calavera is from Jamie. She bought it from Etsy from morbidcreations1. I love it. Yesterday was my birthday.

Just Kidding

I'm almost done with the owl & the pussycat. I'm holding off doing people for now. Too much carnage.
Tuna cans have shrunk from 6 ounces to 5 ounces. The price has almost doubled too. Damn!
Al Franken & Norm Coleman have taken the vote count to the Minnesota supreme court. No one wants to lose. Last count had Franken winning. Coleman didn't like that. Stay tuned.
Our Windows program informed us that it's been installed too many times and that will shut down any time no

Star Spangled Banner

When my kids were in grade school I realized that they didn't know how to sing the National Anthem. I wrote the lyrics on poster board and taught them. The only problem was that I was a lousy singer. When a sporting event came on TV I would call them into the room to show them how it should be sung.
There is a National Anthem Project now because they found that a large percentage of Americans don't know how to sing it. Why isn't it taught more in school?
The NFL requires the song to be prerecorded for the Superbowl. Everybody lip-synchs it. Perfection over integrity.
Youtube is great because you can see lots of great singers singing it. This is one of my favorites by the Dixie Chicks.
This is Bjork. I'm not sure about her yet. My workroom is strewn with rejected bodies. Molly is taking life drawing. I'm jealous.

Babies

Here is a baby with a box.
I see that someone in California had octuplets. Maybe we are getting into competitive births.
I looked it up and it goes like this:
nonuplets - 9
decaplets -10
Undecaplets -11
duodecaplets - 12
Quindecaplets -15 babies.
I don't know about 13 & 14.
Maybe they'll get their own reality show. Ick.
Here is a youtube of one baby that is exquisite.

Flamingo and Boxer

I'm having a hard time with sculpting lately. Everything is taking too long and not ending up the way I want. It is discouraging.
This computer is acting up again and I can't get into my photo program.
This is a custom piece for Penny. I only do custom pieces for friends and family because I've had the experience of customers wanting me to change something which means starting again from scratch. I hate that.
Am I bitchy or what? I am in the throes of Deep Frozen Winter Blues.
Groundhog Day means nothing in Minnesota.
It's been known to snow in June.

Updike & Tyler

John Updike died yesterday. I read a couple of his books a long time ago and decided they were not for me. He seemed like one of those guys who write for guys. Lotsa rather disturbing sexual situations, if I remember right. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Taste in reading is intensely personal. Reading is intensely personal, for that matter. Just the author talking to you.
I just got done rereading"The Accidental Tourist". I rarely reread anything, but I resaw the movie recently. It's pretty good, but like all movies, it skims over the basic plot,
eliminating characters and leaving out lovely and important observations. Macon, the main character has a lot of interesting thoughts, only some of them made it to the movie. It might be my favorite book but I would never expect anyone to share my feelings. It's a rare book that can make me cry, but this one did. It didn't hurt that the pivotal character was a dog named Edward.
This chair is from the book jacket.
