Almost March

We had quite a bit of snow today. I just got back from using the snow blower on our driveway. Snowblowers are a wonderful invention. Lately I have been embracing technology when I spent years disdaining it.
I remember years ago when my in-laws were visiting and I jumped out of the car to open my garage door. Bill, my beloved father-in-law,asked me why I didn't buy a garage door opener. I told him that I didn't need it in Florida. I didn't tell him that we couldn't afford it. We almost, but not quite, got caught up in the credit card madness of recent times. I'm glad we dodged that bullet.
I miss Bill.
I'm making more skeletons. I wish I were faster.

Naked Day

Yesterday I went to life drawing with Molly. It was fun, if a little odd.
Alex and John went to their neighborhood bar during the day last week and were thrilled when the place filled up with women in burlesque costumes. A bunch of artists showed up. The women then stripped down and they did life drawing. I'm sure it made Alex's day.
This is a pastel and charcoal drawing done by Carl Knickerbocker when I took life drawing in Florida. I love it. People rarely do a finished piece like this in class. I bought it from Carl and bartered to have it framed. Jim was a little disturbed when I hung it in the living room. He got used to it. Not as disturbing as a nude of your mother on the wall. Remember that, Jamie?

Still February

Jim played with his band in Minneapolis on Saturday night. There was a scramble outside after the police ticketed a bunch of cars parked on the street. Everyone forgot that it was a snow emergency. They had to move their cards before the tow trucks arrived. After that came the snow plows. Other than that it was a nice entertaining evening.
Here are the two pieces I worked on today. The unfinished one will be a girl with her dog's leash wrapped around her.

Frog & Dog

I'm going to put some of the same statues on both sites. I didn't because they're all one of a kind but the chance of selling the same piece at the same time is remote. I could reproduce it, if necessary.
They're taking the cherry off of the statue Spoonbridge and Cherry in Minneapolis for a few weeks for repainting. I want to go to the Walker and take pictures of the spoon by itself. I'm going into town on Tuesday. Maybe then.

Tonight

Monarch butterflies and marigolds are two symbols of Dia de los Muertos. I thought I'd roll them both into one skeleton. I went through six boxes of fabric looking for a particular fabric for her skirt. I considered snipping some off the skirt I made for Molly, but she still wears it. I settled for this scrap.
I'll finish it tonight.
I still don't have a name for my pig. Damn!

Piggy Bank

Alex came home and fixed and explained my links. I need to organize them, but I'll let them be for now in case I screw it up again.
He gave me an audio book, "The Areas of My Expertise". It's pretty funny but I realize that I don't hear all of it when I'm working. Well, it's in my computer, so I can listen at any time.
The PangaeaDesigns link is my friend, Kathy's. She makes great jewelry. I sent some to Greece.
I should be making more skeletons but something perverse in me made a pig instead. I haven't thought of a name for it yet. Is the money coming or going?

Hot & Cold

The Art Shanty project ended on Valentines Day with a pretty realistic polar bear made from organic stuff, people, and a horn. Here is a short video.
I am going to make more skeletons for 1000markets tomorrow.
