What's Wrong With Dogs

Dogs will find baby bunnies and think they're squeaky toys
Dogs will eat something disgusting, throw up and eat that
Dogs will embarrass you by peeing on the neighbor's dog
Dogs will decide that the middle step is a fine place to sleep
You wonder if tripping over him is how you'll break your neck
Dogs will demand to go outside before it's light and bark to wake the neighbors
Dogs will lay on any project attempted on the floor
Dogs are always underfoot while you're cooking, ready to hoover up anything that hits the floor
Dogs will pick up cockleburrs and expect you to to pick them off their coat and paws
Dogs think that anyone who visits is their new best friend
You suspect that they'd go home with them if you let them
Dogs will bang their water dish when you sit down to eat, even if they already have water
Dogs will scratch, scratch, scratch the carpet, then circle, circle, circle until you say, "Stop!" and then look at you like, "What?"
Dogs don't live nearly long enough
They will break your heart

First Dance Again

I'm waiting for paint to dry. I feel like I've been working on this bride and groom forever and I'll be glad when it's done. I want to go back to animals.
I really enjoyed the indie movie,"Sunshine Cleaning". "Idiocracy" is a hoot.
Time to check the paint.

Truman & the Chipmunks

Well, I didn't make those skeletons yet. I did give Truman his fall bad haircut yesterday. My chipmunk arrived and I took this picture of one of my chipmunks checking it out. He wasn't fooled for long.
I sold five pieces last week. That might be a record for me. Jim said if I sell six a day he could retire, but I can't make six a day. I once made three, but I was working late into the evening for that. No matter how hard I try, it's a slow process.
After I go to the Post Office I'll get going on those skeletons, I will, really.

Gort & Chipmunk

Someone asked about Gort, so I'm making another one. I need to go to Michael's and find some better silver paint. Popcats paint is still tacky. There are little Gort robots on the internet and I want one.
I've heard people say that they can hardly bear to part with the pieces that they've made. Not me. I want other people's pieces. I ordered this chipmunk from Sandra Healy because I love the ones in my yard and she makes sweet ones.
People have been asking about skeletons, so when I get home from errands I will make some.

Sunday Evening

My Cat Lady is leaving for New Zealand tomorrow. It reminded me of the main person I based it on so I'm making one and sending it to her as a gift because she is in a nursing home. I'll send her bon bons, too.
Lotsa lookies over the weekend. Don't know why.
In the past two weeks I've heard a humming bird chirp,a rabbit squeak and a chipmunk chip. All this wonderful stuff in my back yard.

Little Monkey

Monkey baby finished. Baby dressed like flower next, or maybe a chubby cat.

Nineelevenonine

I'm working on a baby in a monkey costume. I've completed this Max costumed boy. I'll put it on Etsy even though I probably shouldn't. "Where the Wild Things Are" comes out in October. I figure that it'll be a popular costume this year.
My friend, Kathy, had Fox come after her for putting D'OH and Mmmm beer on a couple pieces of jewelry. I looked on Etsy and saw over 100 items listed under Simpsons. Heck, I'd call it sort of a back handed compliment. Maybe they only care about people who sell well. Kathy does. Good for you, Kathy!

Boots & Hearts

I have a pair of boots in the oven. They don't have a name yet. Boots and shoes can be very expressive.
Apparently my Holly Golightly made it to the front page of Etsy last night. Tons of hearts and a couple of sweet notes. My shop now has over 700 hearts. That means a lot to me.
I'm thinking I should make some Halloween things.

Squids , Birds & Books

Here is a completed piece tentatively titled "Lost in Space". I have a dip bird in the oven. I just love dip birds, or happy birds. I haven't decided if my translation to clay cuts it. We'll see.
I'm slogging through a book called,"Girls Like Us".It is a biography of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon. It's written in a strange, dense, flowery style. I borrowed it from Robbi and when I mentioned the style to her she said that she did a lot of skimming when she read it. I've started to do that myself.

Later Today

Alex works at the U of M bookstore. A photographer said,"Put this shirt on and I'll take your picture." So he did and here he is.
Here is a frog prince I made today. Maybe I'll get around to putting it on Etsy tomorrow. I gave Truman Frosty Paws for his birthday. He really liked that.

Happy Birthday Truman

Truman Jones turns 10 today. Good boy!

Stuff

Watermelon art, seed art, butter art and the miracle of birth at the State fair. Fun!
Last evening I walked across the Stone Arch Bridge, which crosses the Mississippi. Minneapolis sure is beautiful when it's green.

At the Fair

Here are some pictures from the fair. One of them is chocolate bacon, called pig lickers. Pretty good.

Minnesota State Fair

When I was almost done with this statue I didn't like his face, so I ripped his little head off and made another early this morning. This is his old face.
We're going to the State Fair today. I'm going to remember to bring my camera. I've forgotten my camera so many times. Maybe I'll photograph butter sculptures. It's a beautiful day.
