Weather Report

I'm trying to make a statue of Cassidy. I figure there's a 50-50 chance of it coming out all right.
It's snowing like crazy now. Ah, Minnesota!
As far as I know, David Lynch still gives a weather report every day on his website. Weird.
When I get Cassidy out of the way I'll make Puff, the Magic Dragon.

Lost Ark

Sometimes I have an idea that seems so obvious that I worry that it's been done before. This one is a remake of a ceramic statue I did about fifteen years ago. It's dinosaurs on an ark. I looked on the internet and didn't find anything like it, so I'll put it on soon.
A few weeks ago I looked up frogs playing poker and saw a painting. I still might do it because animals playing poker is waaay basic.

Spring

It is 18 degrees outside. Lots of icicles. I think I should quit complaining about the weather because I'm not particularly into yard work. Making silly little statues always comes first. No yard guilt when there's snow on the ground. I'm almost dome with a raccoon. I might do a snake next.

Good Friday

It's snowing a lot. The snowplow came by but my driveway needs shoveling. Truman loves the snow.

Peeps

This is my Peeps diorama. It's called,"Having an Old Friend for Dinner" after Hannibal Lechter's famous last line from "Silence of the Lambs". I don't think it placed in the Pioneer Press contest because I haven't heard from them. Oh, well.
When I showed it to my friend, Christie, she asked me what I would win. I told her a toothbrush. She sort of rolled her eyes and said that artists must be different from other people. She's a vice president of a company. I thought it would be good if I got my name in the paper.
Must rethink master plan.
It will be my Easter e card for my friends.
After years of hovering, directing ,but not touching my kids dioramas for school I must say that I really got a lot of pleasure from making it.

Mr.P

Tonight I'm working on a Puffin, one of my favorite animals. Last year I went to the St. Louis zoo to see them because I had never seen one live. They were exquisite. It was a great exhibit because they put them in an up close home with penguins, another favorite. They are small and cartoony. Sweet!

The Horizontal Cat

Here are the two pieces I made for Judy. I'll make more if she wants. I'll mail them tomorrow. Today it's@#$% ! snowing.
While I was making these I thought of doing the "Hey, Diddle Diddle"poem. Four images on one piece. Years ago I made the cow jumping over the moon out of fabric.
I set the phoenix aside because I was having problems with it. I'm working it out in my head. I'll come back to it.

Procrastinating

I've been meaning to do this piece for a long time now. My sister-in-law is a singer. She writes and performs for children in the San Francisco Bay area. She is marvelous and hot stuff among the preschool crowd. She goes by the name"Miss Kitty". Judy wants me to make statues for her song,"Horizontal Cat". Cute song. I will make one or two others to go with the song.
A couple of years ago my son, Alex was hiking at the boundary waters with a bunch of girls from school. They sang a song about peanut butter. Alex was surprised because it was one of Judy's songs. They'd heard it from working at daycare. Nice!
Jim and I entertained a couple of guys from Holland this weekend. They don't celebrate St. Patrick's day or Easter there. Everyone has a holiday on the Queens birthday. On that day people are allowed to sell things on the street. Sounds interesting.

Absinthe

Absinthe is legal now. I'd try it, but I read that it has a licorice taste from the anise that's added. I have no taste for licorice.
Anyway, here is the green fairy that symbolizes the drink. I'll put it on etsy tomorrow if I have time.

Cupcake

This statue only looks good in a blurry photograph. It took so long to make and I have to reject it. Damn! I hope I'm learning from my mistakes.
At least it got up to 50 today. That's something.

OMG!

This is exciting. The hamster I put in Etsy today made the front page and it's gotten 444 looks. My other pieces got a lot of looks, too. This made my day.

Monday

I'm trying for another person. I hope I don't have to reject this one.
Cassidy's birthday is this week. I'm thinking, must come up with cake, maybe cupcakes. Hey, I'll have a tiny woman popping out of a cupcake!
Oh, yeah, back to Cassidy. I'll get them at the grocery store.
This week I want to make a phoenix, a green fairy for absinthe, Pandora's box and a monkey with a man playing a concertina.
I may be a little bit obsessed.

Five Below Zero

I am working on what I hope will be a better way to make skeletons. More clay, less paint.
I'm going to make another Bone Fairy, since I think that it's my best. I'll probably give her a blue skirt since I can't find or replace the pink fabric I used. I have too much fabric but I can't bring myself to get rid of any of it.
This piece,"Nude Beach" is the one that was bought to put in a book.
When I'm done with the skeletons I will make a hamster eating. They are so cute! I've come to terms with the word"cute". It haunted me when I was a student. My teachers disdained it. Now I'm too old to care.

Fez

I am working on sock monkeys.
One of my skeletons is probably going to show up in a book. It's a Day of the Dead scrapbook. I don't know much about scrap booking, so I"ll just have to see.I sold it in October and signed a release. The person who bought it emailed me yesterday and said the book will be out soon.Nice.
Jim asked me if I would mind moving to Thailand for a while. I said no.

Plant Life

I like menacing plants. Last night I was watching a Harry Potter movie and I thought of the mandrake plants they had in the first book. Since they are real plants I can make my own without stepping on a copyright.
Mandrake roots have a long, weird history. Good.
